Project Profile

Valley Waste Center Solar Project

Overview

Solar Power Partners (SPP) developed a 1.1 MW solar power system for the Valley Center Municipal Water District. The system, which was financed using SPP's solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), will provide an estimated 2.1 million kWh per year of electricity for the district, offsetting up to 20% of the electricity required by their largest pumping station.

Results

The financial modelling, solar PPA terms, design, and installation of the system shows what can be accomplished when water districts adopt solar and support renewable energy. SPP partnered with Worldwater Power to design and install the ground tracking system, which allows automated panel tilting to match the best part of the sun.

"Valley Center Water District is proud to have partnered with Solar Power Partners to do a "double green" solar project; one which reduces power costs for our customers and benefits the environment. SPP did a great job helping oversee the quality during construction of the solar facility, and are now monitoring the system for optimal performance, daily. The solar Power Purchase Agreement enabled Valley Center to obtain solar without up front costs, and a portion of our energy costs are stabilized for years. This is a 'win win' for SPP, the District, and more importantly our ratepayers."
