Project Profile

Overview

Solar Power Partners (SPP) developed a combined 385 kW solar system of 1,500 solar panels spread across three privately owned buildings in the Hunters Point/Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco. The system is the largest solar facility for the city of San Francisco.

Results

Financed using a solar Power Purchase Agreement, SPP worked with partner Akeena Solar to develop the three systems, each 115.50 kW in size. The systems together produce an estimated annual output of 495,055 kWh. That is equivalent to 325 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, or 39,955 gallons of consumed gasoline.

"I commend Akeena Solar and Solar Power Partners for their commitment to find economically viable ways to blanket San Francisco with solar panels and solidify San Francisco as a beacon of American solar energy. Private sector efforts such as these are equally as important as publicly funded efforts like GoSolarSF to advancing our city's renewable energy initiatives."

- San Francisco Mayor Gavin
Newsom,
who in June 2008 signed the nation's largest municipal solar incentive program into
law
