Project Profile

Fresno Airport Solar Project

Overview

SPP deployed two 1.2 MW DC field installations using an APS single-axis tracking system to maximize annual energy harvest. The installation represents one of the largest distributed PV installations in the U.S. and is expected to produce a combined 4,145,000 kWh annually, approximately 40 percent of the airport’s annual power needs. Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FYI) expects to save about $13 million in electricity costs over the 20-year term and offset 62,175 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

Results

Fresno is the largest airport solar installation in the country.

The installation is expected to produce a combined 4,145,000 kWh annually, approximately 40 percent of the airport’s annual power needs.

FYI expects to save approximatley $13 million in electricity costs over the 20-year term and offset 62,175 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

The system covers approx 20% of airport’s peak usage.
